Note: Name: C. O. Minshew Company: F Unit: 15 Alabama Infantry. Rank - Induction: Private Rank - Discharge: Private Allegiance: Confederate MINSHEW, C. C. Pvt, Co. F *Wounded, 1st Cold Harbor, Battle Mountain, and retired; Oates* ,32, MINSHEW, C. C. [C. O.?] (enlisted, aged 32; wounded, 1st Cold Harbor, Battle Mountain, and retired || Oates) ***************************** So far I have not found a trace of Caleb or his family after the war. I do find two children, Savilla (b. 1867) and Joseph Oliver Minshew (b. 1869) living in the home of Joseph S. Minshew in 1870. None of the other sons of Joseph S. Minshew seem to be the possible father. I wonder if this family was struck by some disaster, such as disease or fire that may have caused their deaths? It is of interest that the birthplace of Joseph Oliver Minshew, born 1869, is listed as Florida in the 1880 census.
