Note: In September or October of 1891, Frank Killam ( half Kiowa Indian) kidnapped Myrta and held her captive around Denver, Colorado until January 1894 when he was shot and killed in a Denver saloon for cheating at cards. Killam was a powerful man and very belligrent, involved in many skirmishes with the law. He evidently beat Myrta several times for trying to escape but quit when she became pregant with Elmer. He held Myrta in a shack in Denver until his death. Myrta moved to a dug-out cave along Cherry Creek where she was helped by her friends Dave McMurdo and his wife Anza Jane.
