Note: Uncle Ben was one of the kindest men I ever knew. He was patient with the kids, who he loved to play with, draw pictures for, send us on 'Treasure Hunts', and was an excellent artist. His book, 'Stories I Have Been Told', was the major source and inspiration for this family tree effort. He was a plastering contractor and plastered many homes in Modesto. In 1914 when he was 5 years old, he lost a toe when a sled ran over it in front of the silo on his mothers 40 acres in Franktown, Colo. In 1935 bought 1/2 acre on Coloraado Avenue (next door to Thomas Wayne Pedego-Stewart who lived at 603 Colorado Ave, Modesto, CA) for $1200 at 2% interest. Traded labor with friends.
