a. Note:   Thurman was born in Hawkins, Wood County, Texas. He finished High School in East Point, Red River Parish, Louisiana Thurman was killed in a truck wreck near Dixie Inn out side of Minden, Louisiana in 1950. In the truck with him was a man named Avery and his son Warren who was 10 at the time. He also belonged to Many Lodge 411, In Many, Louisiana He went to Texas A&M for one semester. Majored in Electrical Engineering. worked for Texas Pipe Line Co. ( Texaco ) in Lake Barre, Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana. Thurman also owned a Garage and Service Station in Many, Sabine Parish, Louisiana. He sold them and moved to Coushatta to help his father take care of his mother. He was working for S & R Gas Co. as a mechanic when he was killed. His Favorite song was Just a Closer Walk With The By Red Foley. Thurman was buried at Springville Cemetery, Coushatta, Red River Parish, Louisiana. Thurman and a man named Elvis Morland was in the process of opening a car dealership in Coushatta at the time of his death.
