Note: Obituary: The News Tribune, Tacoma, WA, undated: "Ralph Wesley Coomber, Oct. 13, 1932 - Oct. 8, 2003. Surrounded by his family, Ralph peacefully joined his Savior in Heaven after a courageous battle with cancer. Born and raised in Tacoma, Ralph Graduated from Lincoln H.S., Attended UPS, and after serving in the US. Army, began a long career in retail sales. His success came in developing relationships, his sense of humor and ongoing positive attitude. His love of sports, especially tennis, was an intregal part of his life. His determination and perseverance was an inspiration to all. Ralph was a devoted, loving and generous husband, father and grandfather, with a contagious faith that touched everyone who met him. He will be deeply missed by his family and endless circles of friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Elaine; children Rene' (Rich) Knudson, Denise (Dennis) Kieffer, Warren (Lori) Coomber; grandchildren Christ and Keven Cheslik, Brittany, Andrew and Janelle Coomber, Anna (Knudson) Cunningham and David Knudson; brothers Chuck (Shirley) and David (Karen) Coomber; mother-in-law Edith (Al) Konsmo; and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Ralph's life will be held on Monday, October 13 at 11 a.m. at Life Center, 1717 So. Pudget Sound. A special thanks to the staffs of the UW Medical Center and Franciscan Hospice for their compassionate care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Franciscan Hospice, PO Box 1502, Tacoma, 98401."
