  The younger age (meaning birth around 1790) is still compatible with marriage in 1812 and raises the possibility that William is the son of John Waycott, papermaker, and Susanna Eales, baptised 27 Sept 1879 in Buckfastleigh and unrecorded since that date.
  There is no trace of them in the 1840 and 1850 censuses.
Note:   Age is indeterminate. The original image of William and Elizabeth on the passenger list is not available on Ancestry. One transcription gives age 49, another gives age 40. Elizabeth is given as 47 each time. (The following page image, showin
