Note: It is noted in the History of Franklin County that when the Confederate Troops Marched thru Greencastle, Francis at age 84 Stood in defiance, cursed them and offered to fight them right there in the street. They don't make old men like that anymore!! Worked as a tailor owning his own shop in Greencastle. The 1810 census shows that he had one son and one daughter under 10 years of age, himself and his wife between 26 and 45, and one other man living with them of the same age group. The 1820 census shows he had 3 sons and 2 daughters under 10, one son and one daughter between 10 fand 16, himself and his wife in the 26 to 45 range, and one free colored male age 14 to 26 in his household. He purchased 40 acres in Montgomery Township, Conococheague creek in 1828. He lived on and farmed this property until he sold it in 1857. Franklin County Mortgage Book E page 53 records the details of a transaction between Francis Pike and Henry Rice when Henry is buying from Francis th property that Francis bought from Johnm Lentz,April23, 1828.
