a. Note:   [house.FTW] 1927 De Queen newspaper 9-9 CrossTrails News Mr and Mrs C.R.House of De Queen are rejoicing over the arrival of a 9 lb baby boy who came to their home Thursday Sept 1. He had been given the name of Kenneth Ross. Mrs House is the daughter of Mrs. J.A. Autrey of this place and a niece of V.E.King. 1942 Cecil House family moved to Geneva. Kenneth thought he was real tough. He thought he would establish him self in the community as that also. He rode his horse up to Wofford Store, where all the young guys hung out. When he got there, two Hall boys, and a Halter boy was sitting on the porch. Kenneth rode up and said " Boys, I am the new Bully of the community". The Hall boys and Halter boy, yanked him off the horse and beat him up. ( back in those days they did a lot of fist fighting). Kenneth got on his horse and said " Well, looks like I am not the community Bully" and rode off. 1943 9-23 newspaper- Geneva News Kenneth House, who has been employed in Calif. has returned home. 1944 11-23 newspaper- Geneva News Kenneth made a business trip to Texarkana Monday 1945 5-10 Geneva News Kenneth spent Sat. nite with Darrell Leeper of DeQueen. Will Cannon of Us Army visited this community Sat . Kenneth had the misfortune cutting his thumb off while working Monday. 1945 5-15 Geneva News. J. H. Cannon is spending a few days in the C.R. House home. 5-31-1945 Miss Magel & Theo Cannon spent Sat nite with Mary Jo, Opal Ruth & Carolyn House. 1945 6-1 Kenneth & Magel eloped and married at Nashville, Ar 1945 621 Pvt. Willie Cannon and J.H.Cannon of Wildwood visited Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth House Sat. 7-20Pvt. & Mrs. Raymond Allen & son & Theo Cannon visited Kenneth House and wife. 8-23 Mr & Mrs Kenneth House spent Sat. nite & Sun. with Mrs. J.H. Cannon of Wildwood. 1945 8-23 Geneva News Mr. & Mrs Kenneth House was honored with a miscellaneous shower given by Mrs. Raymond Allen Sat. nite at the home of her mother Mrs. J.H.Cannon in Wildwood. They received many lovely and useful gifts. Refreshments were served to Mr. & Mrs. Darrell Leeper, Mrs. Bobby Kitchens, Olena Eubanks, Bobby Leeper, Mary Jo House, Mrs Jason Curlee, Mrs. J.A.House, Mrs. Cecil House, Mrs. J.H.Cannon, Harold Hime,C.R. House, Horace Cure, Curtis Cure, Gorden Cure, and honorees Mr& Mrs Kenneth House. Those sending gifts were Mrs Dan Smith, Mrs Evelyn Mc Carey, Mrs. A. Mullins, Miss Ina Mullins and Mrs. Charlie Parkerson. 1945 10-25 Geneva News Kenneth and wife spent the weekend with Mrs Minnie Cannon. 1945 11-1 Geneva News Kenneth made a business trip to Little Rock last Thursday. 11-13 J.H.Cannon of Booneville, Ar. spent the weekend with his daughter Mrs. Kenneth House & Kenneth. 1945 12-20 Kenneth left Monday for Little Rock to be inducted into the Army. 1946 3-28 Pvt Kenneth is spending a 7 day leave with his wife and parents. 1946 4-4 Pvt Kenneth left Monday for Camp Beale,Calif. 1945 8-1 Daughter Virginia Ann stillborn 1946 9-5 Miss Mary Jo and Opal House spent Sat. night and Sunday with Mrs. Kenneth House in Wildwood. 9-12 Mrs. Kenneth House spend several days this week with Cecil House family. 9-19 Mrs Ja. A. House and Mrs. Kenneth House spend Fri. nite with C.R. House family 1947 3-20 Mr.& Mrs. Kenneth House moved into their house Monday. Willie and Jiggs Cannon of De Queen were visitors Monday. Kenneth and Magel got married in 1945, 3 month later he went in to the Army at age 18. He did service in Germany. He told story of his ride across the ocean in the big ship and how sick he got. When he got out of Army, he had mumps and all the family got the mumps when he got home. 1947 4-15 Geneva News Mr. Harold Leeper, Mr. & Mrs. Earl Cannon, Miss Alice Hanson, Ida Mae Rogers and Edward & Jiggs Cannon visited Mr. & Mrs Kenneth House Sunday. 8-28-1947 Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth House moved into the Smyrna Community Saturday 1948 when Marilyn was born at the Archer Hospital (now a house on 6th st) DeQueen. They were living in a small house that Uncle Will Parkerson owned, on Crosstrails Road. 1949 Dorthy was born They then move to a small house in Geneva Community. It was across from the Chruch next to Murl Taylor's house. 1951 Jimmy was born He raised cows and farmed. They raised truck crops & food for their animals. He had a horse named Trigger, and a dog named Cyclone. He could make Trigger rear up, not many guys can do that and stay on. He had cows on the river and got caught in a over flow once, and lost his clothes. He said a bank of water came down the river. He was caught on an island and pulled most of his clothes off to swim across. As he swam across he lost the rest of his clothes. He had only his hat left. He walked up to Aunt Bertha's with his hat covering his private parts! She gave hims a pair of Uncle Hermans overalls. Aunt Bertha and Herman were living where Ruben Tollett now lives. He later went back and found his clothes and watch when the water went down. Bought land on Cossatot River by Cragar Hog Houses, Geneva south of railroad, Lone Oak Community 1953 Jerry was born 1956 Peggy was born When his parents went to Calif. his family, move into their house. I can remember there being a piano in the living room and Mammaw playing it. I remember when Pappaw and Mammaw came back to Ark. from Calif. they would show movies they took there, all the Neighbour children would come Over to see them. I remember a straw like doll they sent us. 1957 Kenneth and family moved to Eagle Nest, New Mexico. He took his log truck and horses and logged there. He had a team of white horses, named Dick and Dan. We lived up in the mountains, saw our first porcupine and bear. We stayed several months there, then moved back to Arkansas. Jobs were hard to find here and we moved to Calif. where Pappaw and Mammaw was. We stayed with them in the up stairs apartment of Russell and Opal's house. While in Calif. he drove a freight truck there, and decided to become a truck driver, he got a job driving for the Mayflower Moving Company, and he move people all over the US 1958 Kathy was born. We went to stay with Mammaw Cannon when Mommaw was in hospital having Kathy. I was ten years old and remember Daddy telling us not to tell Mammaw Cannon that Kathy middle name was Marie after Mammaw House. Harold Leeper was driving for Frozen Food Truck line and Kenneth went to work for them. 1966 He raised hogs, had a hog farm at ? and a feed mill at Delight. Cleaned out grease tanks at Chicken Plants He had a 2 Ton flat bed truck and hauled pigs to Little Rock. Later he had a 18 wheeler to haul them in. He made Hunter's Friend Dog Food on the North Forty, had lots of dog, in shows and loved to deer hunt. Had dogs in Hunter Horn magazine. He bought several new pickups and trailers, to haul and deliver the dog food in. One time he and the boys were delivering dog food and he was a sleep and had his foot sticking out the window and they got to close to a road sign and his foot was hit. He went to Canton Texas and sold it and traded dogs there. He would buy stuff there for us kids. Remember him bring in a big box of white jeans. 1968 Went to riding clubs, we always had horses to ride. I remember having one horse and all six of us kids would pile on him and he didn't care. Can't remember his name. ****** More stories to write about****** Help me out on anything you can remember, or anything I have wrong.............. **Expermented with making homebrew. **Story of gold being buried, the hunt in about 1940's and again in 1970's **Was a cowboy, always had cows, and horses ,always wore cowboy boots, and a hat that he redid, he would put the hat in hot water and redo the top. He had a pair of chaps he wore. **Hauling pigs to Little Rock and stopped at horse races at Hot Springs and got at ticket, for having trailer of pigs in parking lot. *** Spraydown service **Had a truck wreck at Marshall Tex, guy on motorcycle ran into his truck and got killed, K. R. never seem to get over it. **He loved to play the mandolin, french harp, and guitar, he also had a fiddle. He would try to teach his kid and grandkids to play, but none of them ever learned. **Open heart surgery at Texarkana
