a. Note:   ibald and Agnes FRASER lived in Lesmahagow, Lanarkshire. From approximately 1864 to 1866 the family lived at Calderhead, and from about 1869 in the area of Airdrie, New Monkland, Lanarkshire. In 1881 the family lived at 15 Clark St, New Monkland, Lanark, and Archibald was a labourer in an engineering shop. When his youngest daughter was born, Archibald’s occupation was police constable.
  Mr. Fraser, in his younger days worked as a miner, and was for 20 years range-keeper at Drumpellier-Gartlie and Plains Rifle Ranges for the late 5th V. B. Scottish Rifles, Airdrie and Coatbridge. He joined the 37th Company L.R.V. at Lesmahagow in 1859, and transferred to the Airdrie Company in 1869, and was present at the five reviews held in Edinburgh in 1860 and 1881. He has the long service medal. He ranked as armourer-sergeant, and on retiral (sic) in 1896 got permission to retain his rank and wear the uniform of the regiment.

  On 31 December 1857 Archibald FRASER married Agnes GIBSON at Welburn Farm, Lesmahagow, Lanark, Scotland. The marriage was performed by Free Church minister, Rev. James Laing. Archibald was 22 years of age and Agnes was 18.
  *There is also an IGI record submitted by a member of the LDS church that suggests Archibald was born in Lesmahagow in 1835....source of information not stated.
  Death certificate: Archibald Fraser (drill instructor) died on 5 April 1910 at Ballingry House, Lochore. Witness was grandson, Laurence Taylor.
