Bartlett Brooks, Jr. of Laurens Co., SC would have been born between 1784 and 1790. 1790 Census Newberry Co., SC showed that Bartley had three males of age under 16. 1800 Census Laurens Co., SC showed that Bartlet Brooks had two males between age 10 and 16 (probably one son died young) that's where Bartlett, Jr. and William were. This William Brooks was a minor in 1805 when Bartlett, Sr. died. The earliest record of Bartlett, Sr. in South Carolina was Newberry Co. Court Minutes when he appeared as "Bartley" (defendant) in September 1788. Brooks died April 4, 1805" & "Usly Brooks born March 19, 1771 & died April 5, 1835". There is only one other Brooks listed- "Ulyses Brooks born August 19, 1837 & died April 5, 1855".
