Note: Haydentown Lawrence Wayne Miller Lawrence Wayne Miller, 74, of Haydentown, Smithfield, Pa., died suddenly Friday, July 6, 2001, in his residence. He was born January 8, 1927, in Wynn, Pa., son of Lawrence Edwin Miller and Leona Blanche Wilson Miller. Lawrence was a graduate of the former Georges Township High School and then served in the United States Army during World War II with the Military Police of the 3rd Army in Germany. He was formerly employed at United States Steels Clairton Works, Clairton Post Office, and Bethesda, Maryland, Post Office. He then was employed with Gaedcke Equipment Company in Houston, Texas, for 25 years until his retirement in 1992. Lawrence attended White House Free Methodist Church in White House, Pa. He was an active member of the Smithfield Rotary Club serving as treasurer and a Paul Harris Fellow, and a member of American Legion Post 342 in Fairchance and General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 in Hopwood, Pa. His sister, Phyliss Catherine Fowler, his brother, George Edward Miller, his grandson, Ross Andrew McKenzie (1983), and his parents preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kathryn Cooley Miller, and their children: Dr. Carole Ann McKenzie and her husband, Roger Alan McKenzie, of Lindale, Texas, Rev. Edwin Wayne Miller and his wife, Terri Madden Miller, of Sanger, Texas, and Lawrence Bradley Miller and his wife, Nancy McGuigan Miller, of Bethel Park, Pa.; grandchildren: Ryan Alan McKenzie, Wayne, Pa., Kathryn Elizabeth-Ann "Katie" McKenzie, Lindale, Texas, Rory Andrew McKenzie, Lindale, Texas, Meredith Michelle Miller and Carrie Lynn Miller both of Sanger, Texas; sisters: Betty Miller Ayers, Rochelle, New Jersey, and Ruth Miller Robinson, Parkersburg, West Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., today and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Smithfield Rotary will hold services Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. Additional viewing in White House Free Methodist Church on Tuesday, July 10, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Funeral Service will begin at 11 a.m. with Rev. George W. McLaughlin and Rev. Wayne Sawyer officiating. Interment follows in Maple Grove Cemetery, Fairchance, Pa., where Military Honors will be accorded by Hopwood AMVETS Post 103. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the George Cooley Scholarship Fund, Smithfield Rotary Club, c/o Vernon Steve, 29 Sheldon Avenue, Fairchance, PA 15436.
