Note: 12/3/1920 JACOB HENRY WALTERS (Civil War Veteran) Jacob Henry Walters, veteran of the Civil War and member of the G.A.R. Post, Uniontown, died at the home of his brother, James Walters, Fairchance, this morning at 1:15 o'clock. He was aged 77 years, 7 months, and 7 days. Funeral services will be held from the home Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock, Rev. Mr Humbert in charge, Interment will be made in White Rock Cemetary. Deceased is survived by one son, John H., Wyoming: one daughter, Elsie, Youngstown. One brother, James Walters of Fairchance Pa, and the following sisters: Mrs. Sara Bish, Jefferson County: Margaret Wilson, Revere: Virginia Ryan, Fairchance Pa. Mr Walters was a member of the Uniontown Post of the G.A.R., serving with the 16th Calvary during the war of the rebellion. Jacob had quite a career during the Civil War. He was captured near Hartwood Church, February 25, 1863. Sent to Libby Prison where he received his parole. Detailed as orderly to General Warren of the 2nd Corps, August 1863. Wounded October 27, 1864 at Boydton Plank Road (gunshot wound to the right leg, between the ankle and the knee). Discharged June 15, 1865, per General Order 83 of the war department. He is buried at White Rock cemetery. A standard Civil War headstone marks his grave.
