a. Note:   Daily News Standard Friday, February 23, 1923 James Carr Funeral services for James Carr, one of the well known and prominent citizens of Fairchance, will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Methodist Episcopal church of Fairchance. The Rev. Harry Humbert will have charge of the services and preach the funeral sermon. Interment will be in White Rock Cemetery. Mr. Carr was 79 years, eight months and 15 days of age. He died Thursday morning, February 22, 1923, of diseases incident to old age. He served during the Civil war as a member of Company C of the Ninth Pennsylvania Infantry and was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church. He is survived by one son, Ewing of Fairchance and the following daughter; Mrs. Frank O'Brien, Fairchance; Mrs. William Swaney, Oilphant; Mrs. John Bailey, Collier; Mrs. Winnie Wilson, Fayette City, and Miss Emma Carr at home. Thirty-eight grand children and seven great grand children also survive.
