a. Note:   The Morning Herald - October 4, 1940 Prominent Man Of Fairchance, Aged 84, Dies Andrew J. Sowers Was one of the oldest members of Methodist Church Andrew J. Sowers, 84, one of Fairchance's most highly respected citizen, died at his home Thursday morning, October 3, 1940, at 2:30 o'clock, following a lingering illness. He was one of the oldest members of the Brown Chapel Methodist Church of Fairchance. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Jane Humphreys Sowers, the following children: Mrs. Walter Tewell, of Fairchance; Mrs. L. B. Bixler, of Uniontown; Alvin Sowers of Farmington, and one brother Minor Sowers, of Fairchance. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by two daughters Ada and Bessie, and two sons, William and Jesse. Funeral services will be held at the Brown Chapel Methodist Chruch of Fairchance, Saturday, afternoon October 5, 1940 at 2:30 o'clock. Body will be in state at the church from 1:30, until 2:30 o'clock. Rev Harry Leland will be in charge of the services, assisted by Rev. Harry Humbert, and Rev. Dewey Smitley. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Charles Bixler, Edwin Sowers, Clarence Davis, Lloyd Kissinger, Everett Kissinger and Arthur Kissinger. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Fairchance.
