a. Note:   The Morning Herald - Tuesday, July 9, 1957 Samuel J. Nixon Nixon, Samuel J. of 63 N. Main St., Fairchance, died Sunday, July 7 1957 at 9 p.m. He was born in Smithfield, September 8, 1868. He was predeceased by his wife, Harriett Humphreys Nixon, October 1, 1955 and one son, William D. who was killed during World War I., September 1918. He is survived by three children, Mrs. George Byerley; Mrs. J. Ralph Wilson and Mrs. C. C. Lewis, Fairchance; Dr. H. J. Nixon; Mrs. A. D. Ferguson and Dr. E. C. Nixon, Uniontown, sixteen grand-children; twenty-three great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren. Mr. Nixon served many years as superintendent of the Fayette Fire Brick Co., Fairchance; was treasurer of the Fairchance Borough for fifteen years and was a member of Brown's Chapel Methodist Church and Red Men White Stone Lodge 286. Friends will be received in the Ferguson Funeral Home, 80 Morgantown St. , where services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. with Rev. H. L. Weaver, his pastor officiating. Interment will be in Smithfield Baptist Cemetery.
