a. Note:   the following from the notes of Mary B. Aker, Grandaughter of Joseph Chedester. "Army records show that
 Joseph Chedester, age 18, born in Greene Co Tenn.,occupation farmer, enrolled July 2, 1864 at Bulls Gap, TN. He Mustered into service Oct 1864 t Morristown, TN.,as a private in Battery E. 1st Batallion of Light Artillary. Discharged, Aug 1st, 1865. Signed by Edward Watsell, Adj.Gen. " also,"Joseph Chedester was a member in good standing of the Grand Army of the Republic and attended meetings regularly as attested by his Grandaughter, Mary B. Aker, who knew him until his death " Attached was a cirtificate of membership from the Headquarters of Post No 3 Etc. dateed March 9, 1867. Joe and Margaret Moved to Clay Co Mo in 1872, by steamboat up the Missouri River arriving at Liberty Landing. In 1911-1912, they moved to Redlands, Ca. Joe re-married to Anna B. Winslow Hays, he died in Des Moines Iowa where his body was cremated. Graves Registration of the US Army have no record of his passing.
