Note: Thomas moved his family to Rye Cove in March, 1774, he obtained a grant of 197 acres of land. In 1783, he acquired an additional grant of 1, 420 acres to include his improvements. When Fincastel County was abolished he then became a citizen of the new county of Washington. Some years later, without having moved his domicile, he became a Citizen of Russell Co. He was a justice in the first court of Russell County in the General assembly of Virginia. Hes will was probated in Russell Co Oct 25, 1803. His son, Charles, was clerk of the County of Lee for many years.
