Notes
a. Note:   Sizemore Family Lore, is contained in a letter from Deloris Miller Lines, to Montie Barker Grills, written in 1999, In anticipation of this of this undertaking.
" The first Sizemore that settled in East Pumpkin Valley (Eidson) was Thomas, making his home in Hawkins Co. He was a full-blooded Cherokee Indian. This information has been handed down for four generations as to how a full-blooded Cherokee Indiwn, became known as a Sizemore.
Tom Sizemore got his name because he was over six feet tall with a huge frame, weighed about 300 pounds. Indians are named for some physical or charicter trait.
When Tom came Harlan Ky to be near West Pumpkin Valley, where White families already lived, it is believed that he took the name Thomas so he would be treated and known as a White person like the others in the valley. His wifes name was not known. They had Eight Children, (names )
Tom was sent to Nashville during the Civil War and was killed there in the Battle of Nashville.
Two of his sons, Will and Tom were twins, they never went to school.
