Text:   Madelyn L. McDonald, 57, 119 E. Frederick St., Athens, died on Thursday, Oct. 6, 1983 at the Robert Packer Hospital.
  Born Oct. 14, 1925 in Spring Hill, Pa., she was the daughter of Floyd W. and Grace A. Benninger Hendershot.
  She was a long-time resident of the Valley, were she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and its Altar and Rosary Society. Mrs. McDonald also was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Crowns Eight Bowling League, Night Owl Bowling League (past secretary), Womens Bowling Association (Board of Directors) and Athens Band Boosters.
  Surviving are her husband, Leo R. McDonald, at home; a son Leo Patrick, at home; three daughters: Mrs. David (Joyce) Catlin of Jachson, Mich., Susan Hickey of Newark, Del. and Mrs. Thomas (Linda) Wheatley of Waverly; her mother of Sayre; brother, Bernard Hendershot of Waverly; two sisters: Jean Hendershot of Binghamton, N.Y. and Donald (Berneda) Rhodes of Sayre, and 10 grandchildren.
  Friends may call at the Jenkins Funeral Home, 111 S. Main St., Athens, on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.
  A prayer service will be held there at 9 a.m. Monday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at her church at 9:30 a.m. The Rev. Robert Burnett, pastor, will be the celebrant.
  Burial will be in the Epiphany Cemetery, Sayre.
