Notes
a. Note:   ath at the Sayre hospital Saturday, March 10. Mr. Bump was the oldest child of Charlotte Hakes Bump and Dennis Bump. He was born in Albany township, where he spent the greater part of his life. A few years ago he and his wife moved
to Bernice where he has held an important position with the coal companies. The mines have changed hands several times in the past few years but Mr. Bump was always retained as a valued and trusted employe. His wife and 2 daughters survive him, as does a foster-son, Walter, of Orville, Washington; also one sister, Mrs. Joseph Northrup of Athens. Mr. Bump was a loving husband, an affectionate father, a good neighbor and a kind friend. He was especially kind to elderly people. Both his own mother and his wife's mother were lovingly and tenderly cared for by Mr. and Mrs. Bump. Theirs was a hospitable home, and no one ever left their door hungry. He was especially kind to the widowed and orphaned, always reaching out a helping hand to the unfortunate. Children instinctively loved him, to them he was always "Uncle Ed." For several years he has been in failing health but was able to be about, and all that medical skill could do was done but to no avail. At the time of his death he and his wife were the owners of three farms in Albany township. He owned the old homestead where he was born and grew to manhood. They owned the Frank Yetter farm, and the Joe Beaman farm where his wife grew to womanhood. Mr. Bump will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
