Note: theThirteenth Generation by George A Neidert) The first definitely known ancestor of our family was a certain FelixXander who lived at Bachenberlach in the Canton of Zurich, Switzerland. We first learned of him thought his marriage entry on September 19,1613. He married Barbara Zimmerman of Rimlang in the Canton of Zurich. We were unable to secure their date of birth because they were bornbefore the opening of the respective Church records. It would be fair topresume that they must have been born around 1580 to 1590. His death entry February 9, 1646 does not mention his age nor does herdeath entry indicate her age, but gives the following account: BarbaraZimmerman of Rueland, legal wife of Felix Zander of this place who waskilled in the house on 24th of August. Two year after their marriage their only child was born and we find onDecember 17,1615 the baptismal records of Hans David, son of Felix Zanderand Barbara Zimmerman. This Hans represents the second generation. Thenext entry of interest is of his marriage to Barbara Meyers on June 19th,1641. Twenty-one years later an only child was born to this couple, forwe find in the birth register the following entry: Parents: HansZander, Barbara Myers: Child Felix, 22nd February. Felix was 22 yearsold when his parents were taken from him, alone in this world, withoutany relatives (as far as we know) it did not mean much to Felix where helived and we find in the government archives of Zurich where he obtaineda (Visa) equal to a Passport today and the same was obtained January 30,1692. Why he turned north and went to Soellingen, in Baden, Germany willprobably forever remain a mystery. He was then 29 years old. However we find him at that place for the church records of his new homerecords the following information that on Sunday, June 24, 1688, FelixXander, legal son of Hans David, a citizen of Buelach, Zurich, and AnnaUrsula, legal daughter of Ludwig Grossman, late citizen and linen weaverof this place were married. (At this time the spelling of the name waschanged from Z to X). It was this entry which so fortunate in Ralph Xander research as itenabled him to pick up the break in the Switzerland records as he wasworking backwards, copies of the elaborate birth entries of their fourdaughters. Namely: Margaretha born July 1, 1690, Sybille born September14, 1691, Eva Barbara Maria Barbara (Barth) born March 15, 1699, and HansDavid born May 21, 1704 are in possession of Ralph Xander.
