(the N could be A., I looked at it for a while, and still am not sure)...still doesn't help his birthplace in Alabama does though, as in the 1820 census daughter Ida list's her father's bp as Alabama. Santa Rosa County Marriage Record: Alanzo Hill Mary C. Brown Jan/13/1880 Thoughts: !!!!!!!!!! :) :) :) !!!!!!!!!!!! This is the piece of information that I needed, it ties Mary C. Brown (widowed at this point) to a Hill, and therefore to her duaghter Ida later on in the Jernigan family (son Neil also confirms this connection) The Ida in the 1900 census is VERY likely Ida Hill, the Ida Hill I have been looking for for 8 years. Woo-hoo!!!! I still could be wrong, but this is the most information I have found in 8 years and I am VERY lucky that Neil Brown was living with his parents in the 1900 census, or I never would have made the connection. new theory: found a record in LDS Family Search database (yes, I know take everything you find there with a grain of salt) for a Edward Jernigan b. Sept 1860 (this matches data from the 1900 census) son of Ned or Edward Jernigan and Martha Cobb, married to a Mary Mayo about 1881 in Florida. and gives her death year as 1933. Could this be her? It would proove the Mayo connection to Ida Hill Hand (why she was buried in the McCurdy Mayo cemetery in Century Florida) along those lines: searched for a Mary Cobb b. abt 1858 in Florida (why did I search this? 1 census record for 1870 Pollard, Escambia Co., Alabama Andrew J. Cobb age 37 bp (all) florida Martha 36 Florence (male) 9 Mary 12 Minerva 13 Laura 4 Emma 1 searched for mary mayo born in florida abt 1858 found 1 in 1870, this is NOT her holmes county (a county in the florida pan handle) Matilda Mayo age 32 Mary K age 13 Joel age 9 1860 holmes county Richard Mayo age 23 bp Florida Matilda age 22 bp AL Mary age 3 bp FL Samuel age 7 mos (from this census I believe Alfred Mayo and George Mayo living adjacent are related (brothers?)) HOWEVER, based on rootsweb familytrees, can no longer believe my Mary Catherine Mayo (if indeed those are her middle and last names) is this one. AH HA! Finally!!!!!!!! (July, 2013) a breakthrough!
