a. Note:   possibly born in Goochland Co., VA Descendeants of David Groom Mason and Hannah Mayo are from records of Anne Mason Stapleton, 364 Signal Trail, Indian Springs, AL, 35124. She sites as the main source the David Mason Bible which belonged to Dr. D. V. Cooper, Dentist, of Birmingham, AL. Her father, James Lloyd Mason, and Dr. Cooper, grew up together in Columbiana, Shelby Co., AL knowing that they were cousins, but not knowing exactly how. Dr. Cooper loaned her the Bible to copy, shortly before his death in the late 1980's. Note: 17 children by this marriage. Un-named child born dead (No. 7), 29 Apr 1810. 1850 US Census, Page 307, Smith Co., Tennessee, dwelling 1347/1347, age 73 with daughters, Elizebeth, age 24, and Martha, age 22. Children of David Groom Mason and Hannah Mayo were as follows: Jennie Royster Mason, born 1 Nov 1801; died 5 Dec 1879. Anne Harvey Mason, born 7 Apr 1803; died 3 Dec 1868. In a family bible record, it lists his death as: David G Mason, father of G J Mason, died March the 6th 1863
