Notes
a. Note:   Nancy was born in Warren County, GA. [email protected] Gearl The first record I have of Thomas Newberry and the first record I have of John Hand in GA is the list of the 14th District Columbia County GA Militia Roster of 1793. It shows Thomas Newbury & John Hand among others and is Certifyed this 22nd of March 1793 John McDuffie, Capt. Warren County, GA was formed in Dec 1793 partly from Columbia County. Evidently Thomas & John lived in that portion of Columbia County that became a part of Warren County. The Warren County, GA tax digest for 1794 & 1801 both show Thomas Newberry & John Hand. They both owned land on Sweetwater Creek. I think they were even on the same page. My notes do not show Thomas Newberry on the 1805 Warren Co. tax list. I would take that with a grain of salt since I may have just missed him. John Hand does appear on the 1805 Warren Co. tax list but evidently moved or the boundaries changed because he is on the 1806 Columbia County tax list living next to his father Thomas Newberry State: GA County: Warren County Township: St.Eels District Year: 1794 Record Type: Tax List Page: 187 Database: GA 1792-1819 Tax Lists Index Lydia Newberry married Thomas Newberry 7 Oct 1818 Columbia James Newberry in Warren Co., census ...1, ..1 Robert A. Newberry, b. 1797, his father as Jabish Newberry, no date of birth, but he died before 1812. They lived in the northern part of Georgia in what was Indian Territory at that time Jabish and Levi Newberry married daughters of Henry Hand
