I believe we have the photo copy of the Holcombe Bible on record. The Holcombe/Ridling connection comesabout thru marriage - as follows: Moses Franklin and Sarah Rogers are parents of John W. Ridling(DOB: 3 Aug 1825, DOD: 7 Dec 1879.) John married #1. Malvina Thompson and theyhad 4 children: (1) Moses Lemuel Ridling (2) Sarah Jane Ridling (3) Maria Rebecca Ridling (4) Lewis Dickerson Ridling It is believed that Malvina died during birth of Lewis on trip to Arkansas. Wife #2 was Nancy Lee Moreland Holcombe, a widow. She had one child,Frances Cassendra Casey Holcombe, DOB: 1848, and John adopted Frances and she took the Ridling name. John W. and Nancy had 7 children. (1) Wilson Wats Ridling (2) Marion Wiley Ridling (3) Viana Abner Ridling, who incidently married Roland Holcombe, (4) Mary Parmelia Ann Ridling (5) Fannie Adaline Ridling (6) Fannie (Faury) Julie Ridling (7) William Jacob Ridling Other Sources are: Vandervoort Family Histories, Ridling and Wilkins Families, Polk Co, Ark.Shirley Taylor, bstaylor@crossville.com; PearleneLunsford-Agee@myfamily.com; lridling@mosquitonet.com.(End of Bettie's e-mail)This makes sense now, as the first entries of the Bible record are for Thomas M. Holcombe and Frances Cassandra Holcombe's birth is recorded on the same page as the children of John W. Ridling and Nancy L. Moreland. In fact, upon further observation, the Bible record shows Nancy L. Moreland ("second wife of Thomas Holcombe") as having been born 19 September 1823.
Note: Source for Louis Dickson is a Paper by Lee John Ridling. He gives the death date of John W a
