Note: Note: Lieutenant-Colonel Lewis WILLIS served in the 10th Virginia Continental Line in the Revolutionary War of 1776. He was the son of Colonel Henry WILLIS and his wife Mildred WASHINGTON. He was elected Captain of a company of minute me n at Spotsylvania County, Virginia on September 12, 1775. He served in the R evolutionary War as a Lieutenant Colonel of the 10th Virginia Regiment from N ovember 1776 to March 1778. Lewis WILLIS was married three times: firstly to Mary CHAMPE; secondly to Mrs. Anne[Carter] CHAMPE the widow of his brothe r-in-law, John Champe Jr.; thirdly to Mrs. Elizabeth [Stevenson] BROMFIELD.
