The Amicks of Fayette County are related. Their ancestor, Jacob Amick was a brother of Nicholas County Pioneer John Amick. Let me see if I can put this together. My great-grandmother was Mary Ellen Earl. Her brothers and sisters were Norman, Henry, Esther, Marieba, Charlotta and Clara. Not sure of some of the spelling. Her parents were Amos Earl b. Dec. 1827 and Christina Emick b. abt 1829 in Virginia. As the story goes, Christina's father, unknown Emick, was Cherokee Indian. Her mother, I assumed, was a Pickett because as the story goes, she and her brother were raised by a large plantation and slave holder named Pickett, somewhere in Virginia. This Pickett was a relative of General George Pickett of the civil war. Anyway this girl, whom I assumed was a Pickett, married a Cherokee Indian named Emick. Then the story goes that after being married a few years and having children he left one morning and he was never seen or heard of again. After unknown Emick disappeared the woman whom I'll call unknown Pickett married a Truman Hodge. This seemed to be a good marraige and they had children and "lived happily ever after"..Another part of the story is that the plantation owner was a very cruel man. A slave woman who worked in the kitchen would give her young child left over soup after she had served lunch. One day she did not give her child any left over soup and the plantation owner died a few days later from poisening. Who knows how much of this is fact or fiction or speculation. This is all that I know and would love to have any or all that you have to compare notes. Thank you for the information you sent . OH yes, , my brother said the name McClary sounded familier to him but he could not remember why. Please keep in touch Marilyn Smith Leslie RoanyTari@@aol.com Christine, The photo's were great!!!!. Thank you so much. I do not have many old photo's, as I was told many old photo's were destroyed. I live in Ventura County , California, and my brother lives in Booneville ,California. We were both born and raised in Los Angeles , California. Ventura is about 60 miles north of Los Angeles. Lots of citrus orchards and ranches. We raise cattle and registered quarter horses. I think I may have this genealogy figured out and then again maybe not. Here goes. unknown McClary married Unknown Pickett. They had Esther Ann McClary who married "I think" Rueuben Emmick. Both born abt. 1800 in virginia. Reuben Emmick and Esther Ann McClary had Esther Ann Emmick, Elizabeth Emmick , and Christina Emmick. All born in 'Virginia. Ester Ann McClary married second Truman Hodge. Christina Emmick b. 1839 in Virginia, married Amos Earl, b. 1827. Christina Emmick and Amos Earl had Mary Ellen Earl ,b. 1861, Esther Earl, Manilve Earl, Charlotta Earl, Norman Earl, Henry Earl, And Clary Earl. Mary Ellen Earl married John Booher and had Lola, Jesse and Cordy. Jesse married Etta Brazee(first) and had Joseph , Ruth and Ruby twins. Etta brazee died when the twins were four and he moved to California where his mother and father were to help him raise his children. He then married Eva Hulse and had Zelda. My mother is Ruby Booher , one of the twins. Ruby married Marion Smith and had Edwin and Marilyn, me. Hope you can figure this out. Let me know if this makes sense. I think the Pickett name may have been another generation back than I thought. Bye for now and hugs, Marilyn
