  Wilhelm's will abstract lists five sons: George, David, William,Henry and John.Right now, I am assuming that the name ``David'' on the list is an error and should be Daniel. Theabstract does list a Daniel as the son of William Jr., but this is unlikely to be the same Daniel mentioned in other records.
  Daniel was, I am told, born in the Ballstown Town, Albany County, NY area in 1788-9 (Ballston, NY
 is now part of Saratoga Co.). This agrees with the information in the first federal census (1790)
 which lists Wilhelm's family as consisting of two males under 16 years and one female - his wife.
 The next reference to Daniel appears in the records of the Dutch Reformed Church, Fort Plain, Town
 of Minden, Montgomery County, NY. This is the baptism of a son, John William, who was born June 14,
 1815. The sponsors for the baptism were William and his wife Elizabeth.
  The Bureau of Land Management has a record for a Daniel Altenburg purchasing 40 acres of land in DeKalb Co. IN on 1 August 1844. It is not clear if this is the same Daniel.
