Note: Dad was a long time carpenter, painter and builder. In later years he supervised a plant in Lenoir City, overseeing the prefabrication and on-site construction of motel buildings. He retired from Rust Engineering, a contractor for Martin Marietta in Oak Ridge, as a union laborer. He never believed in missing work, even when he was ill. Very few times I can remember him not going to work. I believe this work ethic was passed on to all of his sons. Dad loved to watch us play ball. Even as we got older and slower he made us feel we were the best. Dad passed away at home, in Powell, of heart failure on September 26, 1999, apparently without suffering. I miss him...
