Notes
a. Note:   [Arnold.FTW] William lived and died in Glocester, Rhode Island. He served all through the Revolutionary War. He enlisted in 1775 serving under General Nathaniel Green with his brothers Othniel, Jabez, and Edward, in Col. Dan Tophams' regiment and in Capt. Asa Kimball's Company. The brothers were at the Battle of Bunker Hill and at the siege of Boston. In a letter, he wrote "About sunrise on the 20th day of Arpil, 1775, I took my gun and went over to Asa Windsor's and marched to Lexington to see what they were doing over there." He was a quartermaster for the local militia for some time after the War and was referred to as "William, the Quartermaster". He was aslo known as "Squire Arnold", a title accorded those informed in the law. After the War, he, Stephen Steere, and others bought land in Tioga County, N.Y. It was said, however, that he never travelled to New York to see the land he bought nor to visit any of his brothers who settled there.
