Note: [Arnold.FTW] Othniel was in Capt. Kimball's Company, Col. Hitchcock's Regiment, under General Nathaniel Greene. When marching to Bunker Hill, Othniel had a premonition that he would not survive the battle. He turned to his brother, Jabez, and asked that if he, Othniel, were killed in the battle, would Jabez marry his sweetheart, Rachel Phetteplace. Jabez agreed but when Othniel died from the wounds he received in the battle, Jabez did not marry Rachel when he went home. He married Lucinda Hunter who died after bearing him several children. Jabez then married Rachel as he had promised.
