Note: Ray grew up on his familys' farms in Kansas and new Mexico. He entered the US Army in 1916 and served in Europe as a Wagoner. He drove wagon loads of timbers from southern France to the front to be used in construction of trenches. He also made trips to the front with ammunition.
He worked mainly in the dairy industry in New Mexico including Albuquerque and Taos. He also was a commercial painter and cabinet maker throughout the state.
After he and Alice were divorced, he never re-married.
