Note: the 1840 record (microfilm # 007643, page 283), there were 4 males and3 females in the household (John, William, Amos, *see note below,Elizabeth, Nancy, & Margaret). In 1850 record (microfilm # 007690page 2), John was listed as 47 , a farmer, born in OH. His wife wasElizabeth, sons Amos (age 22), William (age 17), daughters Nancy (age18), and Margaret (age 12). He owned property valued at $4,000. Found after this information was the following: land purchased byJohn Cox 80 acres then addl 40 acres 1 Oct. 1833/1835/ first inTazewell cnty, then McLean cnty (believe parts of Tazewell cnty becameMcLean and land docs were re-issued). Document on file. No proofthis is correct John Cox. Rec and filed: - -LAN 0003-0006 Cenus 1830 reel 23, page 179 shows following people living in home ofJohn Cox:: 2-males under 10 years old (Amos Cox b: 1828 son of Johnand Elizabeth & Nathaniel Cox b: 1822 son of Benjamin and Philena DyeCox) , 1 mail 20-30 years old - John Cox would have been 27 in 1830.1-female 15-20 years old - Elizabeth would have been 19 years old in1830. 3/10 *note: Found a bio of John's brother David Cox that statesPhilena Dye Cox w/7 of her children and nephew John Kilmer came to ILLin 1826 after the death of Benjamin Cox. I believe the 4th male inthe household in 1840 was Johns youngest brother, Nathaniel Cox whowas probably raised by John and Elizabeth until his marriage toElizabeth Depew in 1844. Rec and filed: - LTR 0002 entitled: "Old Settlers of McLean Cnty, ILL" All lived on farm Benjamin had purchased from John W. Dawson beforehis death in 1825. John Cox b: 1803 Mary Cox b: 1806 David Cox b: 1811 Nancy Cox b: 1813 Margaret Cox b: 1816 Benjamin Cox b: 1818 Nathaniel William Cox b: 1820 Marcus Aurlious Cox b: 1823 John Kimler b: 1796 (?) 1827 Philena Dye Cox dies. 1828 John marries Elizabeth Walker 1828 John Kimler and Mary Cox marry John and Elizabeth Cox raise at least 1 of the boys (Benjamin - untilmarriage in 1843 or Nathaniel - until marriage in 1844), John andMary Cox Kimler raise the remainder for the children (Marcus - died1833, David - marries in 1833, Margaret - marries in 1837, and theneither Benjamin or Nathaniel) 1830 census for John Kimler supportsthis reel 23 page 168. Beleive David Cox kept family farm and pass to daughter Hulda whomarried George Deems. More info about sibs and their familes to be added.
