Note: Spokane and the family moved to Marcus, Stevens, WA about 1913, whenher father acquired a homestead there. A picture of her going toBoyds School in 1912,(pg 233) from a book By Ruth Larkin - The KettleRiver Country, pub 1976. This book was a gift from Doris to ChristineChristmas 1977. There is a no information known about her between 1912 and 1928 whenshe married Franklin. Doris was quite a women. At one point in time, she owned a cafe whereshe illegally sold liquor behind her counter. She also let a Chineseman run a gambling room out of her supply room in the back of thecafe. She appears to have been married at least 3 times and possiblyup to 5. Her first husband may have been an Indian and may have died.Name on marriage to 2nd husband is Duensett, and name on Dolores birthcert is Dunsith, no trace of these names exists anywhere to date. Shewas a very funny person, not judgement and treated all people alike. She like people, loved to laugh, and never took anything tooseriously, including parenting I never remember seeing her angry orloose her temper. She would take in strays - dogs, cats, kids, andbecause had a strange array of pets as well as lost kids. She married Franklin Cox, while traveling with the carnival andpregnant with their 2nd child, Douglas Cox. No record of theirdivorce found as of yet. She lived with Ivy Turner for several years. He was a fisherman thenlater a cook on a crab boat out of the port of Seattle. He was knownto Doris's grandchildren as "Grandpa Ivy". He was a good man thewhole family loved him. No other information is known about him. She moved to Colville, Stevens, WA in the last years of her life. Shewas an alcoholic and it is believed she moved there to be left alonefrom people trying to clean her up. I think she wanted to get backher roots.
Note: Doris grew up in Stevens County. She was born in Mead, just outside
