He was the son of Laban Albert Mahan Sr. and Hallie Clay Humphry. Pat Mahan married Mary Kathleen Waldon in 1941. Pat Mahan married Wanda Beatrice Parker after 1996. Pat Mahan died on 25 January 2013 at age 90; Pat Mahan, 90, of Kingsland passed away on Jan. 25. He was born on May 21, 1922 to Laban and Hallie Clay (Humphrey) Mahan in San Antonio. He married his childhood sweetheart, Mary Kathleen Glass, and they eloped in 1941. The couple later became founding/charter members of Castle Hills Baptist Church in San Antonio. He was a pilot in WWII where he survived a plane crash. After the war he took college courses through the GI bill. Mahans passion for flight led him to join the FAA as an air traffic controller. In 1959, he was promoted to FAA Headquarters and worked in Washington, D.C. until his retirement in 1972. He moved back to Texas and remodeled his lake house on the shores of Lake LBJ in Kingsland that had been in the family since 1963. All his life Mahan was an avid gardener, fisherman and golfer. After Mary Kathleens death in 1996, Pat married Wanda Parker, who also preceded him in death in 2009. Mahan is survived by Brother Laban "Bubs Mahan of Blanco; daughters Kathy Mahan Lewis and husband Fred of Kingsland, Elizabeth Mahan Garrison and husband Tucker of Brevard, N.C., Patti Mahan Carico and husband Bill of Kingsland, and Brandy Parker of Austin; sons Roger Parker of Lago Vista, Robert Parker and wife Christina of Granite Shoals, and Alex Parker and wife Lyn of Granite Shoals; grandchildren Christine Garrison of Austin, Dede Garrison Kiener of Westerville, Ohio, Katie Carico Hyatt of Concord, Va., Jeffrey Clay Carico of Lynchburg, Va., and Allie Carico of Lynchurg; Parker grandchildren Austin, Alexzandra, Dawson, Seiara, Hayley, Annika, and Amelia; great-grandchildren Chase Lewis, Chelsea Lewis, Reis Lewis, Ryan Lewis, Jack Simmons, Sophie Simmons, David Kiener, Jonathan Kiener, and Anna Kiener, Emily Carico, Clay Carico, Cayla Carico, Tyler Hyatt, Lexi Spohn, Jasey Hyatt, and Ashleigh Hyatt; and his beloved pets Maggie and Foxy. Mahan was preceded in death by mother Hallie Clay Mercer, stepfather Ira Mercer, uncle Joe Mahan, brothers George and Jimmy Mercer, and his first grandchild William Clark Lewis. A graveside service was held at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park Cemetery off Park Rd 4 on Monday, Jan. 28, at 11 a.m. Dwayne Edwards officiated, and Bill Carico gave the eulogy.
