a. Note:   nthia Nunley, and many half-siblings. When George left for the war, he rode away on horseback in the rain. Cynthia built a wooden cover to preserve the hoof prints in the mud as long as she could. One day George came riding back, telling her the South was losing the war. He said "Pack up all we got and go to Texas." One of them had a relative already living in Pilot Point, TX. So she did, packing the kids and possessions into two wagons. There wasn't room for every last child so Isaac, being the oldest boy, walked with the mule behind the wagons, all the way to Texas. Later George rejoined his family in Pilot Point.
Note:   Family story says Isaac Coleman Gibbs and his sister Nancy were teens during the Civil War while their father George W. Gibbs was away fighting. They lived still in Tennessee with their stepmother, Cy
