Note: Aged Community Resident Passes Away Near Dexter The community was saddened to hear of the passing of William Dickmann, aged and respected resident for the past 78 years, on Friday November 27, at his home near Dexter, Illinois. Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist Church on Monday, November 30, with the Rev. J.H. Burden officiating, and burial was made in Union Cemetery. William Dickmann, son~Renick and Catherine Dickmann, was born near Cooper's Grove, Cook County, Illinois, on October 12, 1853. He was the oldest child of a family of seven. At the age of eleven, his parents moved to Effingham County; first living in Moccasin Township and later moving to Mound, where he resided until his death. He was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Bucholz, December 18,1882, who preceded him in death 46 years ago. To this union 4 children were born; Lydia (Mrs. Otto Preiss of Denver, Colo.)and Matilda (Mrs. W. Young), Christine (Mrs. Ed Combs), and Fred Dickman, all of Altamont. Hr was very ill, several times in his latter years; but the final illness was very brief, the end coming at 9:30 in the evening of November 27, after having reached the age of 89 years, 1 month and 15 days. At an early age he united with the German Methodist Episcopal Church here. His father donated the plot of ground for both the church and the cemetery, two miles east of Altamont. On March 17, he was again married to Mrs. Georgianna Magers, to whom one daughter Aravilla, who resides at home. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, five children, twelve grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one brother, John, two step sons, George Magers of Westville,Illinois and James Magers of Homer, Illinois. Truly an esteemed neighbor and friend has gone on.
