Note: Obituary of Emma E. Sapp Copied from the Garrett Indiana Clipper Newspaper Mrs. Lewis Sapp died at Sacred Heart Hospital Wednesday morning at 3:15 a.m following an illness of three years with Diabetes. For the past ten days she has been bedfast, and when her condition became alarming Friday she was taken to the hospital. Mrs. Sapp was born in Keyser Township, DeKalb County, Indiana, July 30, 1857. She was 67 years and 5 months at the time of her death. She married Lewis Sapp February 24, 1877. They moved from the farm northwest of Garrett to the city 45 years ago (1879) and have ever since resided at their home at 612 N. Franklin Street. Her husband and six children survive. Miss Esther, at home; Sister Priscilla (Flora Caroline) of Joliet, Ill; William Lee of Franklin Park, Ill; James Edward of Garrett; Henry Thomas of Garrett; Grover D. of Garrett; also two sisters, Mrs. Lucy Agnes McCoy of Altamont, Ill; and Mrs. Anna B. Beck of LaGrande, Oregon; and one brother Theodore M. of Murchison, Texas. (Note: another brother, William R. was alive in Texas at this time, but relatives believed him dead because none had, had any word of him since around 1900). Mrs. Sapp was a member of the Catholic Church. Funeral service was held at St. Peter and Paul's Church at 10 a.m. with Rev. Francis A. King officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery. A son, Charles L. died at age 40 in 1922. His wife, Anna Donnelly whom he married in 1907 died in June 1921. Father Young officiated at his funeral which was also held in St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
