Note: Former Resident Theo Magers Who Worked in Hilleman Factory Dies May 7, 1957 Theo M. Magers, 88 years old, Murchison, Texas resident and former resident of Altamont, died last Tuesday at his home. Word of his death reached Altamont later in the week as friends recalled that he formerly worked at Hilleman Furniture Factory in Altamont. His children were born and raised in this community. Mr. Magers was born in Indiana. He lived for a time in Altamont and then in 1913 moved to Texas. He farmed most of his life. He and Mrs. Magers had been married 66 years at the time of his death. Surviving Mr. Magers is his wife; one son, Raymond of Murchison, Texas; four daughters, Mrs. Mabel Bennett of Detroit, Michigan, Mrs. Ella Gosney of Los Angeles, California, Mrs. Quinta Harrison of Amarillo, Texas, and Mrs. Phyllis Turner of Murchison, Texas; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock, Thursday afternoon, May 16, in the Methodist Church in Murchison. Burial was in the Red Hill Cemetery there. Obituary: Theodore M. Magers, aged 88, passed way suddenly at his home in Opelika Community at 9 P.M. May 7, 1957. Mr Magers was born in Indiana and moved to this community in 1913. He had farmed all of his life. Mr and Mrs. Magers had been married 66 years at the time of his death. A member of the Methodist Church at Brownsboro, he was also a member of the Board of Stewards. He is survived by his wife, one son, Raymond, of Murchison; four daughters, Mable Bennett, Detroit, Michigan; Ella Gosney, Los Angeles, California; Quenta Harrison, Amarillo, Texas; Mrs. Phyllis Turner of Murchison, Texas; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. One daughter, Frances Beccue of Altamont, Illinois, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Thursday, 2 P.M. from the Methodist Chruch at Murchison, with Rev. Mouson Fletcher and Rev. Joe Bennett Stuart officiating. Burial is in Red Hill Cemetery. Hassel and Foster were in charge of the services. His grandniece F.M. Scott told that the family called him Uncle Dory. She also told of some relatives that went down to Texas and were surprised to find oil wells in his front yard. Theodore M. and Clara Leonard had one daughter named Frances who married Hank Beccue. Frances and Hank children were Charles and Mary. Charles was married to Ilene (lives in Denver CO.) they had two daughters, Ella Mae and FloAnn Gau. Mary was never married. Obituary: Theodore M.
