Note: Written by Elma Bryant. Mary Alice Magers, known as "Allie" died in Rudley, California, of Pulmonary Tuberculosis after an illness of two years, December 28, 1915. She was buried in the Rudley Cemetery December 39, 1915. Her husband, Robert L. Schmiedeberg, died in 1955. They were married in Effingham County, Illinois, and lived for a while in Leads, South Dakota, before going to California where they settled in Los Angeles. One infant son is buried in the Lutheran Cemetery east of the Effingham County Fairgrounds at Altamont, Illinois. One son, Robert Lee, fell from a tree onto the sidewalk and was killed. This was a short while before his mother's death. A son William Francis Schmiedeberg, served in WWI and died in Veteran's Hospital September 19, 1965, and is buried in the Veteran Cemetery at Sepulveda, California. He had one son named Bill and two wives, Dolly and Cathryn (hopefully not at the same time). Aunt Allie's daughter, Fredia, married a county law officer who died. There was one son, Eddy, who was a career Navy man and opened a business near Las Vegas, Nevada. There may have been other children. Fredia married again after her first husband's death, divorced him and remarried him again. My reference for this is from Bill who wrote me regularly.
