a. Note:   Funeral is Today For Fred Ehlers Who Died In Sleep Monday Night (Unknown Newspaper) Fred Ehlers, well known Altamont community farmer, died in his sleep Monday night at about 11:30. He was 67 years old. It was reported that death was due to a heart attack. Mr. and Mrs. Ehlers had been to the Effingham County Fair that day and again that evening to see the grandstand show. They returned home and retired about 10:30 or a little later. At about 11:30, Mrs. Ehlers heard her husband gasp as she said he sometimes does in his sleep. When she tried to arouse him and couldn't, she summoned a physician. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 this afternoon, in the Altamont First Methodist Church. Rev. Orlando Brakemeyer will officiate. Burial will be at Union Cemetery with Giesking Funeral Home in charge. The body will remain at the funeral home until 11:00 this morning when it will be taken to the church where it will remain until time for services. Mr. Ehlers, son of the late Henry and Lizzie Ehlers, was born February 18, 1889, in the Altamont Community. He and Mrs. Ehlers were married February 11, 1917.
