a. Note:   Mrs. Frederick Sr. (Emma) Ehlers passed away on Saturday, April 28, 1956 in her family home at 107 E Jackson Ave, Altamont at the age of 78 years, 1 month and 15 days. She was buried in the Union Cemetery in Altamont on May 1, 1956. The services were in the family home with Rev. Luther Lawler presiding. Emma Anna Henriette Klocke was born in Quincy, Illinois to Konrad Heinrich Anton and Johanna Margaretha Marie (Auf der Heide) Klocke on March 13, 1878 in Quincy, Illinois After the death of her mother, she came to Altamont to help care for a close friend's children since she was a nurse. It was while she was in Altamont that she met Frederick Ehlers, a widower Frederick and Emma were married on December 26, 1918 in the Rerman Gieseking living room. One child a daughter was born to this union. Leaving to mourn her death are a son-inn-law and daughter, Newell and Miriam Mery, and a granddaughter, Carla Suzann Mery. Also many nieces, nephews and friends mourn her passing. Throughout her lifetime, Emma was a faithful church member. When her father was living, she was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Quincy. After his death she transferred her membership to the German Methodist Church where her mother was a member. In Altamont, Emma was a faithful member of the Methodist Church unknown newspaper obit.
