Notes
a. Note:   per Sarah Forbes obituary, he was her father, and preceded her in death. She died in 1923.
Note from Mrs Annie (Osborn) Ware to James Forbes, dated Aug 26, 1970,
"My brother Theodore Osborn said you was at his place inquiring where
your grandparents were buried, my sister law that lives in Springfield,
Mo was down to see me she said your grandparents are both buried in the
first row in the Delhi Cemetery. She said her mother was a good friend to
your grandmother and she was at your grandmother funeral." Mrs Ware went
to school with Jim's Father, Arthur Forbes, Mabel and Ruth. written on
the note was a note from probably Donna Forbes, Jim's wife. "On our way
back from NY one summer we stopped at Cuba Mo. Looked up the school house
 & Cemetery. House was gone."
Letter from Hugh Smiley to Donna Forbes, says that he doesn't have much
information on the Forbes Family. They came from Virginia and possibly
from England before that. An old sword that Mary Kasselman has may have
belonged to Gen Forbes (maybe War of 1812) Hugh thinks that George W
Forbes & Martha A Kincaid came from Virginia and were possibly married in
White Sulphur Springs, VA. letter dated 2-20-79
In another part of the letter he wrote that his cousin Mary Kasselman at
Great Bend has a civil war sword that belonged to some Forbes, could have
been George W Forbes. Her mother was Jessie (Forbes) Smiley and "Uncle"
John Forbes lived with her folks. "A photo from a family bible shows the
dates & names of the 9 Forbes children of Geo W & Martha. Last 2 lines on
that page show George E Smiley Nov 7, 1877, John Smiley Jan 13, 1880"
Hugh did not know where they fit in.
Last page of 4 page letter says"George W Forbes was licensed as an
Exhorter in the Methodist Episcopal Church, Cuba, Missouri, Feb 1870"
"There is a book in the Cuba, Missouri Library that (Hugh) thinks is a
county history and supposedly has information on the Forbes Family. Some
member of the family was a judge there."
