Note: From her obituary: "Miss Sarah Ann Forbes was born in Cuba, Mo., Oct 28, 1859, and departed this life at the home of her sister, Mrs Frank Smiley, of this city, April 11, 1928; age 63 years, 6 months, 20 days. She leaves to mourn her death 5 sisters, Mrs Josie Gorsage of Hillsborough, Ill; Mrs Margaret Jones of Maplewood, Mo., Mrs Mary Jane Smiley of Garrison, Iowa; Mrs Jessie Smiley and Mrs Nancy Smiley of Stafford, Kansas, and one brother, Mr John Forbes, also of this city, and a host of friends and neighbors. Her mother and father, Margaret A and George W Forbes, one brother, James, and a sister, Melvina, preceded her to the better world, where she too, may join the loved ones. Although only a maid, she had the privilegeof acting a mother's part to Mrs. Arthur Smiley of Montezuma, Kans.; Mr Arthur Forbes of Copeland, Kans.; Mr William Forbes and Mrs Clyde Coons of this city. She was united with the Methodist church in girlhood and was an untiring, faithful worker for the cause of her blessed Master, whom she trusted to the last. Miss Forbes was superintendent of the Delhi Sunday School for 20 years until her health prevented her attending the place she loved. Miss Forbes came to Stafford three weeks ago, in the hopes of regaining her health, but it was not the Master's wish, and she gradually grew weaker until her life slipped quietly into the great beyond. She was a patient sufferer, and she left a ray of sunshine and happiness in the hearts of all who knew her. Her kindness, and service will linger always with us, and point us to the heavenly home, for her life was crowned with faith, hope, and love. Funeral services were held at the Frank Smiley home Friday, April, 13, 10:30 A.M. with Rev Guy E Spear in charge, assisted by Rev Searcy. The singers were Mrs Nellie Newell and Mrs D.H. Donnelly. Pianist Sade Richardson. Interment was made in the Stafford cemetery." Marilyn Lyons said she was born Oct 26, 1859, and lived with Frank & Jessie (Forbes) Smiley when she died
