Notes
a. Note:   Note from Sally Eaton November, 1995:
The newspaper article about Frank and Emma Clifton's wedding (1901) lists Emma and George Berry as attending from Peotone (IL).
Sarah Douglass' obituary (1902) lists Mrs. George Berry of Wilton as a surviving sister.
Only George Berry, of Peotone, is listed as attending John Norman's funeral in 1906. (Emma or Jane would have been about 79 years old at the time and may not have been able to make the trip. Her husband George was about 57.)

  MRS. GEORGE BERRY
Mrs. George Berry passed away at the home * of her step-daughter, Mrs. Ivan Croxen, at 6 p.m. Monday ** at the age of 88 years.
Owing to her advanced years she had been in a feeble condition for many months. Monday morning she moved about the house a little without aid. The she sat down in the living room where she was alone for a few moments. When Mrs. Croxen returned to the room she found the mother lying on the floor. A cut on the forehead showed that she had fallen against the stove. It is thought that she was seized with a stroke. She remained in a comatose condition until her death.
Jane Temple was born in New York state July 3, 1826. In 1849 she came to Illinois and settled in Wilton township where she lived ever since. Her first husband was William Mason. She reared his motherless children. Her second marriage was to George Berry, May 5, 1880, and again she raised four orphans.
Childless herself, she leaves eight step-children who loved her with a devotion rarely met with, and her influence will remain with them throughout life.
The funeral service was held at the Wilton Center Baptist Church at ten o'clock this morning. Interment was in the Wilton cemetery.
  * In 1930, Mrs. Ivan Croxen is mentioned in her father George Berry's obituary as living in Manteno, Illinois. She may have been living in Manteno in 1915 also, but we do not know this.
** Monday would have been April 12, 1915.
