Notes
a. Note:   There is an male child under 5 years of age in the William TEMPLE household in Woodford, VT, in 1830.
William moved his family to Georgetown, Madison Co, NY, between 1830 and 1833. In 1840, there is a male child age 10-14 in William TEMPLE's household in Georgetown, NY.
William's daughter Sarah married Robert DOUGLASS in 1846 and lived in nearby Fenner, NY.
American Civil War Soldiers database from Ancestry: There is a 35 year old George E. TEMPLE shown as serving in the Union Army from Fenner, NY. He enlisted on 24 April 1861, making him born about 1826. If that date is accurate, he would have had to have been a twin to Emma Jane TEMPLE.
The History of Will County Illinois shows (p. 903) includes a reference to William MASON's second wife -- Jane TEMPLE. It says that she had three brothers who served in the Union Army. We've known for some time that two of those brothers were Ira and William E. TEMPLE and thought perhaps that the reference to the third brother was actually her nephew James DOUGLASS. However, if George E. TEMPLE is in fact her brother, then she would have had three brothers in the Union Army.
There was a man named George E. TEMPLE who was married in Fond du Lac Co, WI, on 12 Aug 1868 (per LDS microfiche #6331479, Pre 1907 Wisconsin Marriages). The wife's name is not given with the husband's in the index. The record can be found in Vol. 6, p. 197 of FOD B 13018.
Two of William and Cynthia TEMPLE's other children also were married in Fond du Lac Co, WI. Mary Ann was married in 1856, and Christopher was married in 1862.
There is a 31 year old George TEMPLE who was born in NY listed in the 1870 census for Oakfield, Fond du Lac Co, WI. He has a wife Leovica ? and three children, ages 9 down to 1. This same family appears in the Preston, Wayne Co, PA census in 1880. I don't believe this man is the son of William and Cynthia TEMPLE. His age doesn't fit with the census information William gave in 1940.
George E. TEMPLE appeared in the 1880 census for Eldorado, Fond du Lac Co, WI. He was 52 and born in VT. His wife Sarah was 39 and born in WI. There are four children ages 9 years down to 10 months. This man is a candidate for William and Cynthia's son. He does fit both the 1830 and 1840 census information for William and Cynthia TEMPLE's family.
If this George E. TEMPLE is in fact the son of William and Cynthia TEMPLE then he probably died before 1902 because his sister Sarah TEMPLE DOUGLASS's obituary does not list him as a surviving sibling.
George E. TEMPLE requires more research, but he is a good enough candidate to be a son of William and Cynthia TEMPLE that I have tentatively included him with their other children.
