Note: *Obituary - Portsmouth Daily Times Friday, March 5, 1937 - Calvin Adkins - Calvin Adkins, World war veteran of Wheelersburg, passed away in the Veterans' hospital at Huntington at 7 a.m. Wednesday after a short illness of tuberculosis. He was admitted to the hospital Feb. 29. Mr. Adkins was born Aug. 24, 1895, a son of Jesse and Elizabeth Holmes Adkins of Edgington. He was a veteran of the World war and had lost his right leg in an accident at the Armco plant in Ashland in 1929. Surviving are the parents, who reside at Wheelersburg, a son, John, who is in CCC Camp Clinton near Wilmington, a daughter, Marie, at home; a brother, Robert of Wheelersburg and a half brother, John, of Portsmouth. Mr. Adkins was a member of the Garden City Baptist church. The body is at the home and funeral services will be held at Garden City Baptist church Saturday at 1 p.m. with Rev. W. L. Ketter of Wheelersburg officiating. Burial in Siloam cemetery will be under direction of Hacquard.
