Notes
a. Note:   -Poem by Dearl Gilliam - Written June, 6th, 1945 - Gottingen, Germany. "D Day" It was only a year ago, When in France our boys did land, They fought a fierce Battle, Because the Germans held a wicked hand, They fought with every weapon, And with their buddies they were slain, They met their death so bravely, While fighting in the heat and rain, They were wounded, they wer murdered, and the blood by gallons did run, Just to think about the boys dear parents, Who so many lost their sons, We have at least won victory, With the allies Germany will stay, But think what would have happened, Without that one "D" Day, "D" Day was a weary one, But it means a lot today, We could not have landed in Normandy, If we had tried another way, We can all look back, Upon the Beach of Omaha, We put out every thing that we had, Against the deal that was raw, Now that it is over, What was the great "D" Day, Altho it cost siverely, We fought for the next "V" Day. Written and composed by: Pvt. Dearl Gilliam (35773087) 252nd.
