a. Note:   Copied from Booneville Democrat, May 7, 1997 (Booneville, Logan County, Arkansas): "Roy Gene Wilks 55, of Booneville, died Friday, May 2, 1997 at his home. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Magazine, and a member of the South Logan County Bow Hunters Association. Funeral services were held at 2pm Monday, May 5, 1997 at the First Baptist Church of Magazine with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Booneville. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Marie Wilks, of Booneville; a daughter, Geneva Ruth Haynes of Magazine; three sons, Roy Dale Wilks of Paris, and Doyle Wayne and Bryan Joe Wilks both of Magazine; a sister, Wanda McElroy of Los Lunas, N.M. and 11 grandchildren. Pallbearers were: John Scott, Will Beason, Randy and Rick Watson, and Claude Miller, Jr." Roy succumbed after a long illness with Emphysema and was on oxygen for several months before his death. He went into respiratory arrest on a few occasions but was resuscitated and spent some time in the ICU at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith. His last employment was as maintenance supervisor at the Booneville Human Development Center in Booneville.
