I, David Hamilton of the State of SouthCarolina and County of York being of perfect memory and soundJudgement (thanks be ascribed to God for all his mercies), andcalling to mind the shortness and uncertainty of human life, do herebymake, constitute and appoint this my last Will and Testament, andfirst I humbly command my Spirit of God, and my body I commit to theEarth to be Interred in a decent manner at the discretion of myExecutors herein after mentioned not doubting but my Soul and Bodywill be again reunited at the Resurrection, and the worldly propertywhich it hath pleased God to Bless me with I do hereby Will andbequest, in the manner and form following. First I will and desirethat all my Just and lawful debts be paid. To my Well beloved wifeJean, I will and bequeath the one third of all my personal property,and the same to be at her disposal at her Death. To all my childrenherein after mentioned I will and bequeath to each of them the sum offive Shillings lawful money, To my son James Hamilton I will anddevise five shillings. To David Hamilton five Shillings, To AlexanderHamilton five Shillings. To my daughter Cathrine Hamilton, wife ofJames Hamilton, five Shillings. To john Hamilton five shillings. Tomy daughter Elizabeth Boggs, wife of Aaron Boggs, five Shillings. ToThomas Hamilton five Shillings. To my daughter Jean I will andbequeath three feather beds with their now furniture, a Loem andTackling and twenty five pounds Sterling to be paid in a horse of theValue of between fifteen and twenty pounds, and the remainder incattle or other good Trade. To my son Willi I will and bequeath allmy Real Estate, the land on which I now live, with its appurtenances,and all the remainder of my personal Estate after the above mentionedlegacies are paid. And I do hereby revoke and completely render nulland Void, all former Wills, deeds of Gift, or any other thing, orthings whatsoever, touching or concerning my property above mentioned. I do hereby appoint, nominate and Ordain, my two Son's John andWilliam Hamilton, to be joint Executors of this my last will andTestament, to see the same performed according to my true intent andmeaning. Signed, Sealed, and Acknowledged as and for the last will andTestament of the above mentioned David Hamilton the twenty fourth ofApril 1797. and of the Sovereignty and Independence of the UnitedStates the Twenty first year, in the presence of us.
